"When economic factors totally beyond my control forced me to shut down my 4th generation dairy farm and to sell my beloved Guernsey cows, I was left heartbroken and depressed.  Searching for some kind of release for the heartache and pain, I took my old guitar out to my empty barn, sat down on a bucket in front of the eerily empty stalls, and as the tears streamed down my face, poured my heart out into writing the song that would not only heal my heart but totally transform my life.

Writing my song, Empty Barn, was an incredibly cathartic experience in and of itself, allowing me to get the pain out that was literally killing me. But once I had a song, I had a safe way of showing others what I was feeling (something I otherwise wasn't very good at) and that opened the floodgates for people to lend me their love, support, and encouragement which was crucial to my healing journey."
